Test of the ergonomic mouse

Do you sometimes have pain in your hand, arm or neck? Me too, and it is almost chronic! So I went looking for the cause, and according to my osteopath, the culprit in this dark matter might be - tarara boom - the computer mouse! Test of the ergonomic mouse

Diagnosis

When using a standard mouse, the hand lies flat, which puts a strain on the wrist and carpal tunnel (too high), the radius (twisted) and the elbow. The unnatural position of the elbow causes complaints in the shoulder and subsequently in the neck. The well-known butterfly effect: a small cause can have large consequences.

Remedy

During an appointment, my osteopath advised me to try a vertical mouse. The vertical mouse respects the natural posture of the body and makes it possible to align the wrist with the arm, without forcing it to turn. The repeated movements of the mouse are therefore "absorbed" by the shoulder, which is much more resistant than the forearm.

Getting started

I took the plunge 5 months ago and bought a vertical mouse. To kill two birds with one stone and rid my desk of ugly cables, I chose a wireless one. At first, it was a bit confusing. Because the position of the buttons and the hand are different, I needed some time to regain precision in my clicks ... But after 2 or 3 days, it was perfect!

Final verdict

Really, I am convinced! I even wonder how I managed to tolerate a horizontal mouse all these years. For the record: I tried to use the classic mouse again, just out of curiosity ... After 5 minutes, I put it back in the drawer! The vertical mouse is really more suitable and, in my opinion, the other mice should not even be on the market any more. The only thing holding you back is the "force of habit", but if you know the classic mouse is bad for you, you should just go for it. For the record, the model I tested is the T'nB wireless mouse for right-handers, but there are many other models available, also for left-handers.
